CARDIAC ANESTHESIA

Our Cardiovascular Anesthesia Service is involved with the daily intricacies of cardiac preoperative evaluation, invasive monitoring, hemodynamic optimization, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiovascular physiology, pharmacology, management of cardiopulmonary bypass, and postoperative care of cardiac and major vascular surgery patients.

Each procedure requires careful, diligent anesthesia care from a team of specialists. Your anesthesiologist is involved with your care before, during, and after the operation. During the operation, close communication is maintained  at all times between the perfusionists, surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologist.

In addition to the operating room, our Cardiac Anesthesia Service also provides support to the Cardiac Catheterization Labratory. Many procedures are performed annually with anesthesia assistance, including hemodynamic catheterizations, transesophageal, echocardiograms, and cardioversions. Numerous invasive procedures are performed, such as valvular dilation with or without stent placement, AICD implantation, radiofrequency ablation procedures, and device closures of intracardiac defects.
